My Pool Repairs

Hurricane season is here, and while Hurricane Erin may not make landfall in Florida, it’s always smart for pool owners to be prepared! Heavy rains and strong winds can take a toll on your pool and equipment. Here are a few pool care tips to protect your investment during storms:
Don’t drain your pool – Keeping water in helps balance hydrostatic pressure and prevents your pool from “floating” out of the ground.
Turn off power to pool equipment – Protect pumps, heaters, and electronics from surges or flooding.
Remove loose items – Patio furniture, toys, and accessories can become dangerous projectiles.
Balance your water chemistry – Shock your pool and adjust levels to help combat contaminants that may enter with stormwater.
Secure the pool area – If possible, cover your pool and double-check that gates, screens, and fencing are stable.
After the storm passes, give your pool a thorough cleaning, check your filter system, and rebalance the water.
At My Pool Repairs, we’re here to help with inspections, cleanups, and equipment checks to get your pool back in shape fast. Give us a call today.
