This is a heat exchanger, and ideally, you should see clean copper tubing inside. Instead, the top photos show heavy calcium buildup, the result of water that’s been left too unbalanced for too long. On the other end of the extreme, the other photos show aggressive water that has eaten away the copper — a costly problem that could have been prevented with routine care.
