My Pool Repairs
Look up! If you’re in Central Florida, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a Bald Eagle soaring overhead like it owns the sky — because honestly, it kind of does. With a wingspan that can stretch over 7 feet, these birds don’t just fly… they command the air.
Meet the Bald Eagle
Species: Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Fun Fact: Despite being the U.S. national symbol, Florida is one of the top states for Bald Eagle nesting!
Habitat: Lakes, wetlands, coastlines, and anywhere with good fishing
Favorite Meal: Fresh fish, delivered side order of majestic swoop
Florida has one of the largest Bald Eagle populations in the country, nesting from late fall through early spring. If you’ve ever spotted a massive stick nest way up in a pine tree — about the size of a small couch — there’s a good chance it belongs to one of these sky kings.
Did You Know?
Young Bald Eagles aren’t bald at all — they’re mottled brown and white until age 4–5, when they finally earn that iconic white head and tail.
Bald Eagles mate for life and return to the same nest year after year, often adding new sticks until the nest weighs over a ton!
Their eyesight is about 4–8 times stronger than ours — meaning they can spot a fish from hundreds of feet in the air.
Florida’s many lakes and rivers make it prime Bald Eagle real estate, especially in Lake County and Central Florida’s conservation areas.
A Conservation Comeback
Once endangered, Bald Eagles have made an incredible recovery thanks to habitat protection and conservation efforts. Today, seeing them perched along Florida’s waterways is a reminder of how wildlife can thrive when we protect it.
Whether you’re on a morning drive, fishing by the lake, or working on a pool with a great view (we know a little about that
), keep an eye out for these majestic raptors — they’re one of Florida’s most breathtaking sights.
