Pools are meant for fun, but safety always comes first, especially with little ones and furry friends around. Here are some must-follow tips:
For Kids
Install a pool safety fence (at least 4 feet high, self-closing, self-latching gate).Use door & gate alarms if your home opens directly to the pool area.Always supervise children when near or in the pool—never leave them unattended.Teach kids to swim early and practice basic water safety.Keep rescue equipment (life ring, reaching pole) nearby.
For Pets
Train pets where the pool steps or shallow entry are, so they know how to exit.Use a pool safety cover when not in use.Consider a pet pool ramp for easier exits.Never rely on pets’ natural swimming ability—some breeds tire quickly.Rinse them after swimming to protect their skin & your pool water balance.
Protip: Florida law requires safety features for residential pools, so you’ll not only protect your loved ones but also stay compliant.
